Bae Jong Ok is a South Korean actress born in Seoul and managed by J, Wide-Company who began her television career after being recruited by KBS in the 1980s. In addition to her work in film and television, she earned a doctorate from Korea University's School of Journalism and Mass Communication with a thesis examining the relationship between production crews and online audience responses. Since 2003, she has served as a visiting professor of theatre and film studies at Chung-Ang University. She was married to a pilot from 1994 to 1996 and has one daughter.
