Hoshino Gen is a Japanese singer-songwriter, musician, and actor from Saitama who is married to actress Aragaki Yui. He founded and led the instrumental band SAKEROCK in October 2000 until its disbandment in June 2015, while also pursuing a solo music career beginning in 2010 and working as an essayist and columnist. His education at Jiyu no Mori Gakuen Junior and Senior High School sparked his early interest in guitar and theater. In December 2012, he suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage that caused multiple hiatuses, though he successfully returned to work in 2013 after surgery, with his music management transitioning to Amuse Inc. in March 2015.
