Tsugawa Masahiko (January 2, 1940 – August 4, 2018) was a Japanese actor, film director, producer, and critic born in Nakagyo District, Kyoto City, whose real name was Kato Masahiko. He was affiliated with Grand Pa Production, serving as the company's chairman, and received education from multiple institutions including Nakano High School affiliated with Meiji University and Bunka Gakuin Junior College of Culture. Known for his work in numerous television and film productions, including the film "Heaven and Earth" and the NHK drama "Aoi Tokugawa Sandai," Tsugawa became widely recognized to the public and received the 42nd Japan Film Academy Awards President's Special Award in March 2019. He died of heart failure in Tokyo at the age of 78.
