Lee Young Hoon, born in Gwangju, South Korea, began his acting career after joining the MBC Academy during high school, where he studied alongside future actors Jo In Seong and Lee So Yeon. In 2001, at age 19, he was cast by director Leesong Hee Il in the short film "Good Romance" before pursuing a drama major at Suwon Science College. Following his military service, he returned to acting in the independent film "No Regret" (2006), a critically acclaimed work depicting a gay man in the male host industry that screened at the Busan International Film Festival and earned him the Best Newcomer Award from the Korea Film Critics Society. In 2008, he appeared in the commercial film "The Guard Post" and the romance drama "Ride Away."
