Kim Yoon Jin is a South Korean actress born in Seoul who immigrated to the United States at age ten and settled in Staten Island, New York. She trained extensively in drama and performance, attending the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School in Manhattan, studying at the London Academy of Performing Arts, and earning a BFA in drama from Boston University, while also developing skills as a dancer and martial artist. After early work in American television and theater, she starred in the 1999 Korean film Shiri, which became the highest-grossing film in Korean history at the time and made her a major star, followed by roles in The Legend of Gingko (2000), Ardor (2002)—which premiered at the 2003 Berlin Film Festival to critical acclaim—and the American television series Lost (2004–2010). In 2003, she signed with William Morris, and in 2006 was recognized by Maxim magazine at #98 on its annual list and featured on the cover of Stuff magazine; she married former manager Jeong Hyeok Park in March 2010.
