Lee Man Ki is a South Korean professor, writer, politician, TV personality, and former ssireum wrestler who achieved considerable success in the sport during the 1980s, winning the Cheonha Janga Ssireum competition in 1983 while studying at Kyungnam University and maintaining an 86.5% winning percentage, though he was notably defeated four out of six times by Kang Ho Dong. He earned a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Kyungnam University, a master's degree from the same institution in 1989, and a Ph.D. from Chung-Ang University in 2001. After his wrestling career, he managed and later became a professor of the Ssireum Team at Inje University, while simultaneously pursuing involvement in politics through sports committees and regional elections beginning in 2004. He is married to former Olympic judoka Hyun Sook Hee.
