Yamauchi Masato

Yamauchi Masato graduated from Waseda University Faculty of Law in 1950 and joined the NHK Tokyo Broadcasting System troupe in 1949 alongside Ryo Kurosawa and Kiyoshi Kawakubo, debuting as voice actor Kirino Kojiro in the radio drama "Fuebuki Doji." Throughout his extensive career, he provided dubbing for Western films featuring actors such as Montgomery Clift and Tyrone Power, hosted the radio program "Rakuten Club," narrated the TV show "Only I Know," and accumulated over 20,000 appearances. Dedicated to promoting refined spoken language, he co-founded the Broadcast Expression Education Center in 1974 with Japanese language scholar Kazuhiko Kaneda, establishing Japan's first reading vocational school and serving as its representative. After leaving NHK in 1977 and working for K Production, he continued as a freelancer until his death from lung cancer in Meguro-ku, Tokyo on April 7, 2003, at age 74.
