Go Tae Seob, known professionally as Holland, is a South Korean singer and the first openly gay K-pop idol. Originally a photography major at the Seoul Institute of Arts, he withdrew to pursue music after facing rejection from entertainment companies unwilling to work with openly gay artists. He independently funded his debut single "Neverland," released on January 21, 2018, which garnered over 1 million views within 20 hours and received a 19+ rating in South Korea due to its depiction of same-sex intimacy. Holland chose his stage name as a tribute to the Netherlands, the first country to legalize same-sex marriage, and his family learned of his sexuality through a subsequent interview.
