The colorful opening sequence of GELBOYS 2 comes with a particularly fitting behind-the-scenes story: the artist who created its illustrations was once simply watching the series alongside everyone else.
Following the premiere of Episode 1 on August 8, Bangkok-based illustrator Porsza revealed that she drew the character artwork featured throughout the new opening titles.
“Who would ever have thought—from watching Season 1 to illustrating the Season 2 opening title?” she wrote while sharing images from the finished sequence. “It’s me. I drew them.”
From the audience to the creative team
The opening introduces the returning characters through brightly colored, hand-drawn portraits surrounded by photographs, stickers, doodles and other collage-like elements. Its deliberately busy visual language complements the series’ continued focus on youth culture, fandom and life in contemporary Bangkok.
Porsza clarified that she created the illustrations used in the sequence, while the production team handled their final composition and animation. The result brings her expressive artwork into the established visual world of GELBOYS while giving the second season an identity of its own.
Her excitement was already apparent while Episode 1 was airing. In an earlier post, the artist celebrated seeing her work appear on television for the first time.
The reveal was also embraced by viewers and people connected to the series, including director Boss Kuno and cast member Leon Zech, helping the artwork—and the story behind it—gain wider attention after the premiere.
Meet Porsza
Porsza is an illustrator and comic artist based in Bangkok. In her Bangkok Illustration Fair profile, she describes her work as an exploration of how different artistic mediums can be used for storytelling, with an emphasis on bold, expressive visuals.
In a follow-up post, Porsza introduced herself as the illustrator behind the GELBOYS titles and thanked viewers for their enthusiastic response. She said she hopes to work on more projects like it in the future, adding, “I love being an illustrator.” Beyond the series, Porsza creates storytelling experiences across different mediums, including zines and merchandise that she sells at art markets.
Her previous projects have included illustrated zines, sequential artwork, paper dolls and experimental printed pieces. Several of those works explore the relationship between storytelling and physical formats—an approach that feels particularly well suited to the layered, scrapbook-inspired opening of GELBOYS 2.
In a 2026 interview with bkk UNZINE, Porsza described herself as a storyteller interested in publications and other forms of visual communication rather than limiting her work to one medium. She also discussed studying Communication Design at Chulalongkorn University and how animation, visual continuity and design principles influenced her approach to storytelling.
Her contribution to GELBOYS 2 now brings that approach to her largest on-screen audience yet—and turns her journey from Season 1 viewer to Season 2 collaborator into one of the show’s most charming production stories.
