GELBOYS 2 opened its second season with an unexpected jump to 2054—and an even more surprising collection of familiar faces.
Set nearly three decades after the original story, the premiere introduces Gelz and Baby, the sons of the original Gelboys. As the pair begin revisiting their fathers’ relationship history, viewers meet future-era versions of the original characters played by three established names from Thailand’s pop scene: Timethai, Tomo Visava of K-OTIC, and Chin Chinawut.
The appearances were largely absent from the season’s pre-release promotion, allowing the reveal of the so-called “Gel Daddies” to become one of Episode 1’s biggest surprises.
Who are they playing?
The premiere does not immediately explain every future character’s identity, turning the casting itself into part of the mystery.
Visual and narrative clues appear to establish Tomo as the older Baabin and Chin Chinawut as the older Bua. Timethai’s character is strongly suggested to be the future version of Chian, although the episode avoids giving every counterpart a completely straightforward introduction.
An older version of Fou4Mod has seemingly not yet appeared.
That missing fourth character may be connected to another major revelation from the 2054 storyline: one of the two original couples is no longer together. The premiere does not reveal which relationship ended—or what happened between them—leaving Gelz and Baby to uncover the history of Fou4Mod, Chian, Baabin, and Bua.
A nostalgic T-pop reunion
The three actors bring an additional layer of Thai pop nostalgia to a season already shaped by fandom, music, and idol culture.
Tomo rose to fame as a member of Kamikaze boy group K-OTIC, while Chin Chinawut established himself as a singer, dancer, and actor after beginning his career through GMM Grammy’s G-Junior project. Timethai later became one of Kamikaze’s most recognizable solo performers.
Timethai and Tomo also share genuine pop history. Tomo appeared on Timethai’s 2011 debut single, “No More,” making their reunion in GELBOYS 2 especially unexpected for longtime followers of Thai pop music.
The 2054 framing represents a major departure from the contemporary setting of the first season. It also gives the series a new mystery: what happened to the original Gelboys during the decades between the two timelines?
GELBOYS 2 releases new episodes every Saturday, with the uncut version streaming internationally on iQIYI.
