A new BL game is beginning to make its introduction. Godly Love: On Air is an upcoming BL romance game bringing together eight men, four central relationships and an entertainment-infused world centered around the fictional Empyrea City.
The project has only recently begun pulling back the curtain, but there's already quite a bit to unpack. Its official website is now live, character and relationship introductions are rolling out, and an official animated short offers an early glimpse at the world and its cast in motion.
What we haven't seen yet is just as interesting: despite being promoted as a mobile game, Godly Love: On Air has yet to show much of what actually playing it will look like.
Welcome to Empyrea City
At the center of Godly Love: On Air is Empyrea City, a bright metropolitan setting populated by characters working across entertainment, food, motorsports and other industries.
The game's early visual identity leans heavily into entertainment and celebrity culture. Promotional artwork takes inspiration from magazine covers and fashion editorials, while its tagline — "Love Never Signs Off! The Show Must Go On!" — gives the project the feeling of a world where public personas and private relationships are constantly intersecting.
Its cast is currently organized around eight central characters and four pairings, each introducing a different kind of relationship.
Four very different couples
Ryut and Asahi share both a stage and a relationship. They're partners in the breakout idol group Starfire, with their introduction focusing on the pair's youth, bond and chemistry as performers. Their promotional feature describes them as partners who shine onstage and in each other's hearts.
Gaen and Lucé take the entertainment theme in another direction. They're presented as actors whose on-screen romance may not stay confined to the script, with their introduction teasing what happens when the boundary between a performed relationship and a real one starts to disappear.
Then there's Psion and Somer, whose dynamic appears considerably more intense. Psion is positioned as a difficult superstar and Somer as his assistant, while their promotional material plays openly with obsession, possession and an unusually close working relationship.
Towa and Ignas, meanwhile, come from completely different worlds. Towa is a gourmet chef and Ignas a professional racer. They're presented as constant companions and kindred counterparts, with their relationship built around a longstanding connection despite their contrasting careers and personalities.
Ignas' character introduction adds another piece to that dynamic: while he presents himself as a cool, dependable older-brother type around others, his more mischievous and childish personality apparently emerges when he's alone with Towa.
Together, the four pairings give the game a fairly broad selection of BL dynamics before we've even seen the larger story unfold.
The first animated look
For a better sense of how those characters fit together, Godly Love: On Air has also released an official animated short.
Rather than explaining game mechanics, the animation functions as an introduction to Empyrea City itself, moving between members of the cast and emphasizing their personalities, occupations and connections.
It's also one of the strongest indications yet of the tone Godly Love: On Air is aiming for: colorful, contemporary and heavily character-driven, with the relationships between its eight leads positioned at the center of the experience.
Is Godly Love: On Air coming out in English?
There's good reason for international BL fans to pay attention.
Godly Love: On Air already has a dedicated English-language promotional presence, including English character materials and an English version of its official website. Official accounts have also been established for Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese audiences.
However, there is an important distinction between promoting a game internationally and confirming where it will actually be playable.
So far, an English-language playable version, supported regions and a release date have not been formally detailed. Final launch platforms also remain unclear beyond the project's promotion as a mobile game.
So what kind of game is it?
That's currently the biggest unanswered question.
The project has been described as a BL romance card game, giving us at least some indication of its format. But almost everything shown publicly so far has focused on the characters, relationships, world and animated presentation.
We haven't yet seen a substantial gameplay demonstration showing how those cards work, how players interact with the four relationships, whether the story follows fixed couples or gives players meaningful choices, or what progression and collection systems will look like.
That makes Godly Love: On Air an intriguing project to watch. Its first impression is unusually polished, with eight distinctive leads, four clearly defined relationship dynamics and a visual identity that already feels cohesive.
Now we need to see the game behind all of that artwork.
With the official rollout only beginning, the next major reveal may tell us whether Godly Love: On Air can translate the chemistry and personality of these early visuals into an equally compelling BL game.
