U-NEXT has released a new teaser for the Japanese-dubbed version of Heated Rivalry, one week before the Canadian sports romance makes its long-awaited debut in Japan.
The clip revisits Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov’s first meeting at an international hockey tournament, now voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka and Yōhei Azakami. Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie portray the rival hockey stars in the original English-language production.
Ōtsuka, known for voicing Aqua in Oshi no Ko and Jinshi in The Apothecary Diaries, provides the Japanese voice of Shane. Azakami, whose roles include Guel Jeturk in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, voices Ilya.
The supporting Japanese cast includes Shinichiro Kamio as Scott Hunter and Kazuyuki Okitsu as Kip Grady. U-NEXT previously announced a larger ensemble that also includes Hideji Hanawa, Megumi Toyoguchi, Nobuo Tobita and Gakuto Kajiwara.
Heated Rivalry will premiere exclusively on U-NEXT in Japan on August 28 at 12:00 a.m. JST. Both the subtitled and Japanese-dubbed versions will be available, with one of the season’s six episodes released each week.
Adapted from Rachel Reid’s novel of the same name, the series follows Shane and Ilya across approximately eight years as their public rivalry on the ice conceals an increasingly complicated private relationship.
