Korean BL Summertime has released its main trailer, offering a closer look at a friendship of nearly two decades beginning to cross into unfamiliar territory.
Sung In-ho stars as Cha Do-hyeon alongside Kim Do-min as Yeo Eun-ho, two childhood friends who have remained by each other’s side for 19 years. The trailer follows the pair as the comfortable relationship they have always known begins to shift during one pivotal summer.
Although Eun-ho continues to describe them as childhood friends who are practically family, Do-hyeon’s long-hidden feelings make it increasingly difficult for their relationship to remain that simple. Their growing attraction, jealousy and emotionally charged confrontations suggest that both will have to reconsider what the other truly means to them.
Summertime is adapted from Iromil’s web novel of the same Korean title, Hajeolgi (하절기). The story follows Eun-ho after he learns the true feelings of Cha Do-hyeon—the childhood friend from whom he has never been separated. The series is expected to trace their evolving relationship from their school years into adulthood.
Kim Do-min plays the outwardly rough but warmhearted Eun-ho in his first leading role. Sung In-ho portrays Do-hyeon, whose reserved demeanor conceals years of devotion to the person who has always been closest to him.
The drama is directed by Bae Yoon-seo, who previously directed the BL romance film Sweetheart Service. Studio Oak, the production company behind Heart Stain, Ball Boy Tactics, Thundercloud Rainstorm and The Prosecutor and His Cases, is overseeing the production.
Summertime premieres Friday, August 28, on the South Korean streaming platform Wavve. An international streaming platform has not yet been announced.
